This FCO incorporates ECO L0004-MK010 and | | implements part revision on the KA750 option. The KA750 option | | revision is "A". | | | | THIS FCO SHOULD ONLY BE INSTALLED AS SYMPTOMS EXIST. | |___________________________________________________________________________| | Problem/Symptoms: | | (1) The UBI loses device interrupts (SSYN L is deasserted | | before UBI has purged UCR SSYN H in the microcode flows). (2) When the | | UBI is the Bus Master, it deasserts BBSY at the same time as MSYN L, | | allowing no deskew time for the address and control lines. | |___________________________________________________________________________| | Quick Check: | | Etch cut an E36P13 on side 2 and E57P8 on side 1. | |___________________________________________________________________________| | Compatibility/Prerequisite FCO: | Est. The use of the VELOSTAT kit is * * essential to prevent damage which may not be noticed * * immediately. * ********************************************************* 1. Shut down the system by executing the Shutdown Command Procedure. 2. Set the five-position keyswitch on the console panel to "OFF", and set the main circuit breaker on the 875 power controller to the "OFF" (0) position. 3. Set up the VELOSTAT Kit - Unfold the VELOSTAT mat to full size (24x24). - Attach the 15' ground cord to the VELOSTAT snap fastener on the mat. - Attach the alligator clip end of the ground cord to a good ground on the 11/750. - Attach the wrist strap to either wrist and the alligator clip to a convenient portion of the mat. 4. Remove the L0004 module from the CPU slot 4 and place it on the mat. 5. Inspect the removed L0004 module. If it is at Revision "P1" or "P2" (minimum), re-install it in slot 4 and proceed to step 10. If the L0004 module is below Revision "P1" go on to the next step (6) and return the removed L0004 module ASAP to designated repair center for upgrade. 6. Place the new L0004 module (EQ-01424-01) while still in the box on the VELOSTAT mat. 7. Remove the module from the box and protective covering and lay it flat on the VELOSTAT mat. This will bring the module to the same potential as the CPU and eliminate static discharge damage. 8. Insure that the new L0004 module is at part revision "P1"or "P2". _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO KA750-A-I-001 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 3 OF 6 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 9. Install the new L0004 module in slot 4. 10. Ensure that slot 6 of the CPU contains an L0006 Remote Diagnostic Module (RDM); LOOO6-YA for non-DEC maintenance. 11. If you had to install an L0006 module in the CPU, move the TU58 and console signal cables to the right side of slot 6. See the sticker on the inside of the rear door for cable connections. NOTE: Due to a KC750 (L0006) design problem, it will be necessary to re-install a jumper on "slot 5 pins B44/B48" to reliably run the VAX 11/750 micro-diagnostics. After these are run, the jumper should be removed. 12. Power up the CPU by setting the main circuit breaker on the 875 power controller to the ON (1) position and setting the five position console keyswitch to the LOCAL position. 13. Insert the TU58 cassette marked BE-S029O-DE into the drive. 14. Invoke the RDM monitor and run the DPM tests by typing TE. == 15. When this test is complete, replace the TU58 cassette with the one marked BE-S030M-DE and run the MIC test by typing DI. == 16. Bring up the Diagnostic Supervisor (ECSAA). This will automatically load the PCS for testing. 17. Verify total CPU operation by running the following diagnostics: ECKAL ECKAX EVKAB EVKAD EVKAE ECCBA 18. Once the system has passed all diagnostics, power the system down. If the Remote Diagnostic Module (L0006) was installed earlier, and does not belong in the system, remove it. Remember to restore the TU58 and console signal cables on the back of slot 6 to their normal position. 19. Power-up the system and bring up the VMS Operating System. 20. Update the Site Management Guide to reflect this FCO. 21. Report this FCO activity on the LARS for in the "Fail Area/ Module/FCO/Comments" column as follows: FCO-KA750-A-I-01 \^ KA750 \\KA750 \\KA750-A \\POWERS \\1986 \\MAY \\FCO_DOCS
