This FCO corrects a manufacturing error; No ECO and no drawing changes were implemented. Installation of an accessible door lock (keyless assembly) gives the operator access to the RL02 in the front end cabinet enabling the operator to start-up or re-boot the system. This FCO implements ECOs KA86-MR009 and 7019531-MR001. Installation of the BA11-A Bracket is required to prevent the operator from extending the BA11-A box. Technical Description: RL02 Problem- RL02 Fix- The Power Cord may been have Inspect the power cord for wear or damaged by contacting the chaffing. It is possible the cord vertical rails during movement has been damaged or will be damaged of the RL02. if not dressed properly. Replace if damaged, re-dress if not dressed properly. RL02 Harness Inspection/Replacement: ********************************************************************** * NOTE * * As a precaution, especially for Per Call customers, diagnostics * * should be run on the CPU Kernal and I/O Devices, prior to * * installation of this FCO, to verify intergrity of the system. * ********************************************************************** 1. Power OFF the VAX 86XX system by turning the System Control Panel (SCP) Terminal Control Switch to the OFF position. 2. Open the front panel door of the CPU and set the Main Circuit Breaker (CB1) of the 876A Power Control to the OFF (0) position. 3. Open the rear panel door of the Front End Cabinet and locate the RL02 cable retractor. There should be one data cable and a power cord dressed on this retractor. Reference Figure 1. 4. Inspect the RL02 power cord for signs of wear or chaffing. It is possible that the cord may have been damaged or will be damaged by contacting either the left or right vertical rail. At the pivot point of the cable retractor, check for chaffing of the outer surface and for cutting of the inner surface (against retractor). At the service loop on the left side, check for damage from contact with the left vertical rail. Reference Figure 1. 5. If there is NO damage but the cables are dressed to the RIGHT of the retractor's pivot point OR if the service loop allows the cables to contact the left vertical rail during movement of the RL02, the cables must be re-dressed. 6. If the cord is damaged it must be replaced with P/N 17-00083-03. 7. According to Step 5, remove the tie-wraps and dress the service loop (shorten), such that it will not contact the vertical rail during movement of the RL02. Reference Figure 1. 8. Redress the cables such that they are 1-2 inches (3-5 cm) to the left of the retractor's pivot point. Reference Figure 1. 9. Extend and retract the RL02 to ensure the proper service loop and operation of the retractor arm exists. 10. Close and latch the rear panel door of the Front End cabinet. 11. Proceed to Section 2. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO KA86-I011 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 4 OF 7 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ SECTION 2. Open the front panel door of the CPU and set the Main Circuit Breaker (CB1) of the 876A Power Control to the OFF (0) position. 3. Open the front panel door of the Front End cabinet, remove and discard the key lock assembly. ********************************************************* * NOTE: * * Requires medium size adjustable wrench and small * * flat blade screwdriver. * ********************************************************* 4. Replace the (discarded) key lock assembly with keyless assembly P/N 12-20104-08. 5. Open the rear panel door of the Front End cabinet. If NOT already installed, install the two brackets (P/N 74-31122-01) on the BA11-A box using four #10 SEMS screws (P/N 90-09700-00). Refer to Figure 1. 6. Place U-nuts at holes #3 and #15 (count from the bottom) of both vertical rails, if NOT already installed. ***************************************************************** * NOTE * * These brackets are to prevent the operator from extending * * the BA11-A box and MUST remain attached except for servicing.* ***************************************************************** 7. Close the Front End cabinet doors. 8. Set the Main Circuit Breaker (CB1) of the 876A Power Control to the ON (1) position. 9. Close the front panel CPU door. 10. Power UP the system by turning the SCP Terminal Control Switch to the ON position. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO KA86-I011 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 5 OF 7 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 11.
