It is required that all * * Branches order this tool (P/N 47-00099-01). Due to limited supply, * * order one per Branch. * * * ************************************************************************* OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this FCO is to eliminate the noise being conducted into the Internal Coaxial Cable from the chassis ground. Retrofit all CI Internal Cable Assemblies (P/N 70-19860), from Rev "B1" to Rev "C1", by adding the Ferrite Bead Assembly (P/N 70-22518-01). Technical Description: Problem: 1) CI Internal Cable Assembly (P/N 70-19860), conducts noise, causing the EVGAA diagnostic tests (13-16) to fail. Fix: 1) Add the CI Ferrite Bead Assembly (P/N 70-22518-01). _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO KA86-AA-AD-R-002 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 3 OF 9 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ SECTION I FCO Installation Procedure: 1. Verify the operation of the CI subsystem first, by running the EVGAA Diagnostic Test (Reference Section II, Steps #1 thru #10, of this procedure). 2. Perform an orderly VMS shutdown. 3. Power OFF the 8600, by turning the SCP Terminal Control Switch to the OFF position. 4. Open the front panel door and Set the Main Circuit Breaker (CB1), of the 876A, to the OFF position. 5. Open the rear panel door and locate the I/O Backplane. ************************************************************************* * NOTE * * * * Be Careful NOT to damage the backplane pins (in the vicinity of the * * coaxial connectors) while disconnecting the cables. * * * ************************************************************************* 6. Using the torque wrench disconnect ONLY the Receive A (ARX) and Receive B (BRX) Internal Coaxial Cables from the I/O backplane connectors. ************************************************************************* * NOTE * * * * Reference drawing AD-7019860-0-0, Rev "B", for illustration of * * the Cable Set Assembly. * ************************************************************************* 7. Remove the tie wrap from the cables (if applicable). 8. Position the Ferrite Bead Assembly and the loop, approximately 5 inches from the bulkhead end of the Internal Coaxial Cables. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO KA86-AA-AD-R-002 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 4 OF 9 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 9. Pass both the Internal Coaxial Cables thru the Ferrite Bead Assembly three times, as shown in Figure 1. ************************************************************************* * NOTE * * * * This will result in each cable having two loops, as shown in * * Figure 1. * ************************************************************************* _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO KA86-AA-AD-R-002 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 5 OF 9 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 10. Reconnect the Internal Coaxial Cables onto the I/O backplane connectors, and tighten by hand. 11. Using the CI torque wrench, tighten both connectors until the tool ratchets. ************************************************************************** * NOTE * * * * The CI Torque Wrench is calibrated for a torque of 60 inch ounces, * * DO NOT adjust or tamper with this tool. * * * ************************************************************************** 12. Close the rear panel door. 13. Set the Main Circuit Breaker (CB1), of the 876A, to the ON position. 14. Close the front panel door. 15. Ensure that the SCP Restart Control Switch is in the HALT position. 16. Turn the SCP Switch to LOCAL. SECTION II EVGAA Diagnostic Test Instructions Perform the following test procedure: 1. At the >>> prompt, load the Diagnostic Supervisor. >>> @EDSAA 2. At the DS> prompt, run the Autosizer.
