_ DEC-O-LOG for LG02 _ DOL, LG02-I001, PRINTER JUL 87 PROBLEM: Customer/Marketing complaints that the graphics plotting performance is not acceptable. (Graphics throughput slow.) FIELD EFFECTIVITY: The LG02 Controller PCB, should be exchanged on the LG02, when the customer complains of the slow speed when using the printer in graphics mode. QUICK CHECK: "Report" key on LG02 operator panel will produce a printed report. Firmware revision level will be "V2.0 or higher. FCO KIT ORDERING: EQ-01476-01 FCO, PARTS FA-04765-01 FCO only _ DOL, LG02-R002, Printer, NOV 88 PROBLEM: The most common symptoms experienced are as follows: 1. Printer stops and no error message is displayed. 2. Printer stops and paper motion error is displayed. 3. prior to printer stopping, paper won't move or moves excessively. FIELD EFFECTIVITY: All models of the LG02 printers must be upgraded. Customers are experiencing high incidence of failure from the power amp PCB due to its minimal current carrying margin and lack of shut-down capability in its design. QUICK CHECK: Check the printer serial number for 93906 or greater. For printers having lower serial numbers, check Revision Levels: 1. On the unit, check for the DEC part number (LG02-A2) label (may not be present) inside the right side panel for Rev. A02. 2. On the Power Amp PCB and CPU EPROM (SOCKET 4B), check the Vendor part numbers: a. Power Amp PCB for Rev. G. b. CPU EPROM (socket 4B) for number 700524-111.2. For anything less, the printer must be upgraded by the FCO. This revised FCO supersedes Rev. A released 01 Nov. 1988. It has been revised to correct the part designator in the Applicability Section on page 1. Printer vertical pitch returns to default while using a Font selected from the Control Panel which uses a non-default Pitch. This happens when a font is reselected via the data stream. 2. The Printer sometimes hangs after entry of invalid data via Control Panel. 3. The Summary sheet and/or Flag page becomes corrupted after a file is sent to the printer which selects the 13.3 cpi font and then prints several lines of 160 characters in width. Subsequent summary sheets would have some of the font information corrupted and have flag page print problems. 4. Panel lock-up after paper out, platen up, and override. If a paper out error occurs and the operator raises the platen before pressing override, the printer will lock up. 5. Panel lock-up when powering up with error present. If there are any non-fatal errors present during power-up, the printer will lock-up. 6. ESD blanks out the control panel. 7. When multiple (over 50) are issued in a row at 8 lpi, a false paper motion error is detected by the new Power AMP (See FCO LG02-R002). 8. When loss of power is experienced in the middle of a compressed print job, the printer will lock up after the power returns and the printer is put on-line. FIELD EFFECTIVITY: All models of the LG02 may be upgraded with this FCO. Customers whose systems exhibit one or more of the problems stated will required this upgrade. QUICK CHECK:Print out the Printer Status Sheet: 1. Press the "off-line" key at the control panel. 2. Press the "report" key. Check for the firmware Rev. Level (top right corner of the first page.) If the Rev. Level is V2.0 (F/W Revision Level V2.0) or less, then the FCO is required. FCO KIT ORDERING: EQ-01562-02 FCO, Parts FA-04873-02 FCO Document (European version also available)
