Technical Description: Setting the local copy switch will cause garbled print or character echo if the DDC invokes local copy mode at the same time. Problem: When local copy is enabled the customer receives garbled text on the local terminal, whenever the customer support center is in control. Fix: Replace Rev.A C5006 module with Rev.B C5006 module. MDS01-I001 C5006 Module Rework Procedures ********************************************************* * CAUTION * * All modules are to be handled in accordance with * * safety procedures. Static wrist strap connected to * * a suitable ground must be worn when removing module * * from or inserting module into MDS01 unit. All loose * * modules should be in anti static bags and remain * * there if not in use. * ********************************************************* 1. Remove power and disconnect cables from the rear of the MDS01 console. 2. Remove front bezel by removing the (2) two phillip head screws at the base of the unit. 3. Remove the Rev.A C5006 module from the MDS01 enclosure. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO MDS01-I001 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 3 OF 5 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 4. Remove the replacement C5006 module from the anti static bag. ********************************************************* * CAUTION * * Use care when installing the C5006 module to prevent * * breaking the backplane connector. * ********************************************************* 5. To avoid breaking the backplane connector insert the C5006 module into the guide channels and angle the top of it to the left so that the connector portion of the module is skewed to the right. Reference Figure 1 on page 4. 6. Using care, slide the module into the backplane connector, using minimum force. ********************************************************** * CAUTION * * When replacing the front bezel screws DO NOT over * * tighten screws or the screw threads will be stripped. * ********************************************************** 7. Carefully replace the front bezel, insuring the switch cable is not caught between the bezel and the base plate. 8. Insure the LED's have cleared the bezel guides and are visible from the front. 9. Install the (2) two phillip head screws being careful not to over tighten the screws. 10. Place the removed C5006 module into the anti static bag provided with the replacement module. 11. Adhere the supplied revision change label to the bottom of the enclosure, adjacent to the UL label. 12. Return all old revision modules immediately to the return stockroom (S/R126 for US & GIA areas, Europe areas Nijmegen). 13. At the completion of the upgrade call and log in with the Customer Support Center for procedure verification. 14. Update the Site Management Guide to reflect this FCO. 15. Report LARS data according to the sample on page 5. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO MDS01-I001 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 4 OF 5 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ Figure 1 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO MDS01-I001 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 5 OF 5 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ LARS USA GIA EUROPE Activity - Contract and Warranty W U Y Non Contract/Non Warranty F F F DEC Option MDS01 MDS01 MDS01 Type of Call M M M Action Taken D D I Fail Area-Module-FCO-Comments MDS01-I001 MDS01-I001 MDS01-I001 Material Used EQ-01482-01 EQ-01482-01 EQ-01482-01 \^ MDS01 \\MDS01 \\TILTON \\1987 \\AUG \\FCO_DOCS
