Power Management System The monitory has power management features that exceed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star requirements for saving energy. OPTIONAL FEATURES Please consult your dealer for information about these optional features. Apple Macintosh connector adapter Connector adapters are available for connecting this monitor to the Apple MacintoshII family, the Macintosh LC/LC II and Quadra series computer. SAFETY TIPS 1. Make sure the voltage designation on your monitor corresponds to local electrical supply before connecting the AC power cord to an outlet. 2. To avoid electric shock, never touch the inside the monitor. Only a qualified technician should open the monitor's case. 3. Never use your monitor if the power cord has been damaged. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord, and keep the cord away from where people will walk on it. 4. Be sure to hold the plug, not the cord, when disconnecting the monitor from an electric socket. 5. Openings in the monitor cabinet are provided for ventilation. To prevent overheating, these openings should not be blocked or covered. Also, avoid using the monitor on a bed, sofa, rug, or other soft surface, because doing so may block the ventilation openings in the bottom of the cabinet. If you put the monitor in a bookcase or another enclosed space, be sure that adequate ventilation is provided. 6. Never insert anything metallic into the monitor openings. Doing so may create a danger of electric shock. 7. Put your monitor in a location with low humidity and a minimum of dust. Avoid places like damp basements or dusty hallways. 8. Do not expose the monitor to rain or use it near water (in kitchens, next to swimming pools, etc.). If the monitor accidentally gets wet, unplug it and contact an authorized dealer immediately. You can clean the monitor with a damp cloth when necessary, but be sure to unplug the monitor first. 9. Place the monitor on a solid surface, and treat it kindly. The screen is made of glass and can be damaged if dropped or hit sharply. 10. If your monitor does not operate normally; in particular, if there are any unusual sounds or smells coming from it, immediately unplug it and contact an authorized dealer. 11. High temperatures can cause trouble. Don't try to use your monitor in direct sunlight, and keep it away from heaters, stoves, fireplaces and other sources of heat. 12. Unplug the monitor when it is going to be left unused for an extended period. 13. Unplug your monitor from the AC outlet before any service. INSTALLATION Labels: Signal input Power (On/Off) AC cord inlet Power Indicator (Dual color) CONNECTION TO YOUR COMPUTER This monitor can be connected to any IBM compatible analog display adapter. Such adapters include VGA, XGA, XGAII and the built-in video system of the computer. To set up your display, follow these steps: 1. Make sure your computer is turned off. 2. Place the display on a flat, sturdy surface. 3. Connect the 15-pin D-sub connector on the video connector cable to the video connector on your computer and tighten the attachment screws. 4. Connect the 9-pin D-sub connector on the video connector cable to the video connector (signal input) at the back of the display and tighten the attachment screws. 5. Connect the power cable to the display and then plug the power cord into the power outlet. 6. Adjust the screen tilt and swivel to your needs. 7. Turn on your computer and then the display. Push the power switch once to turn monitor power on. The indicator LED glows green. Push the switch again to turn monitor power off. 2. Power indicator (Dual color) When the monitor is powered on, and no adjustments are being made, the indicator glows green. When an adjustment function is selected, the indicator LED glows orange. 3. Contrast Control Use to adjust the contrast level of the displayed image. Contrast controls the difference between dark and light areas of the displayed image. 4. Brightness Control Use to adjust the overall brightness of the displayed image. MICROPROCESSOR CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS GENERAL DESCRIPTION The monitor has preset display settings for each of the standard signal timings listed on the timing chart. In other words, the monitor will automatically adjust itself to an optimum size and position when it senses one of the standard signal timings. However, some users wish to adjust the monitor to their preferred setting rather than the factory preset. The microprocessor controlled adjustments will automatically memorize the display settings that you prefer for a specific signal timing and automatically adjust itself when the monitor senses that signal. Up to 10 different timing/settings can be saved. CONTROL FUNCTION BUTTONS Use these buttons to select the desired display adjustment function. The indicator LED will glow orange showing that the function has been activated. Then use the variable adjustment control to adjust the displayed image. Approximately 3-4 seconds after your adjustments are complete, the settings will automatically be saved. THE DISPLAY ADJUSTMENT Use the Variable adjustment control to adjust the displayed image when a control function is enabled. (The indicator's color is orange.) 5. Horizontal Position Use this button to adjust the horizontal position (centering) of the display. 6. Vertical Position Use this button to adjust the vertical position (centering) of the display. 7. Horizontal Size Use this button to adjust the horizontal size (width) of the display. 8. Vertical Size Use this button to adjust the vertical size (height) of the display. 9. Side Pincushion Use this button to correct vertical sides of the display from bowing out or in. 10. Recall Use this button to recall factory preset settings. Press the button for 2-3 seconds until the indicator LED's color changes from orange to green. Caution: This operation resets all of the data in the user memory area for the current signal timing. ADJUSTMENT BUTTONS Use these buttons to adjust the displayed image when a control function is enabled (the indicator's color is orange). But you cannot adjust the displayed image when a control function is disabled (the indicator's color is green). Note: After 3-4 seconds from the last control using the UP or DOWN button, your preferred display adjustments are saved automatically. At that time then the indicator's color is changed to green and returned to orange. 11. DOWN Use this button to decrease the value of function. 12. UP Use this button to increase the value of function. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION The monitor has some technical control functions for the correction of geometric distortion as follows: 13. Parallelogram - Keep pressing the Horizontal position button and Vertical position button simultaneously for 4-5 seconds until the indicator's color is changed from orange to green. - Use the UP or DOWN button to control parallelogram of the display. 14. Trapezoid - Keep pressing the Horizontal position button and Horizontal size button simultaneously for 4-5 seconds until the indicator's color is changed from orange to green. - Use the UP or DOWN button to control trapezoid of the display. POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (POWER SAVING FUNCTION) If your computer system features a display power management function, this monitor, when signaled, will enter power saving modes. The purpose of power management is to automatically reduce power consumption when the computer system is not in use. This monitor can enter 3 different power saving modes as described below. This monitor is Energy Star compliant when used with a computer equipped with Display Power Management Signaling (DPMS) standard (VESA). Normal Operation State Power saving function mode Sync Normal Operation Stand-by mode Suspend mode Power-off mode Horizontal Normal Inactive Normal Inactive Vertical Normal Normal Inactive Inactive Video Normal Blanked Blanked Blanked Remark Blinking Blinking (LED color) Green Orange Orange/Green Orange (0.5 s interval) (1 s interval) Power 90W 72W less than less than consumption (Max) (Max) 30W 8W Note: This monitor automatically returns to normal operation state when horizontal and vertical sync returns. When you turn power off in power-off mode, LED indicators may continuely blink on-off for 4 to 15 seconds. ADJUSTMENT EXAMPLES Use the examples below to help determine which adjustments are required for your display. Adjustments may be required when signals other than the factory preset timings are received. Even though there are preset modes, you may wish to fine tune your display with the microprocessor controls.
