FSL repair locations will install the new receiver; new idler tape guide; new link mechanism; new bezel and update the drive module to include the new drive microcode. The FCO kit will contain a drive having all of these changes installed, plus a warning label on the handle. **************************************************************** * The TK50 contains electrostatic discharge sensitive devices.* * The use of the Velostat kit is essential when replacing * * the drive. * **************************************************************** 1. Perform normal system shutdown procedures. REFER TO APPROPRIATE SYSTEM MANUALS FOR SYSTEM INVOLVED. 2. Power down system. 3. Remove covers and panels to gain access to the TK50. Remove power and signal cables from drive. Remove drive from mounting slot. 4. Using reverse procedure, replace removed drive with drive from kit provided. Make sure the Revision of the drive provided is Revision E1 or higher. The Revision is noted on a label at the back of the drive. 5. Replace all covers and panels. 6. Observe for normal power up diagnostic completion. Refer to paragraph 4.4.1.7 and 4.4.1.8, page 4-12 in the TK50 TK50 Tape Drive Subsystem Manual, # EK-0TK50-TM. 7. Run one pass of TK50 MDM diagnostic or applicable 11 system Data Reliability Diagnostic before returning to customer. 8. Complete LARS form as per attached sample. Return drive to Logistics in shipping container as soon as possible. 9. The repair tag should be marked "FCO ONLY" in the comments area. NOTE: Local Field Service offices must insure that this FCO/drive replace- ment is conducted by TRAINED PERSONNEL ONLY! The installing F.E. should make available to customer personnel the video entitled "TK50 User Familiarization" during the installation of this FCO/ updated drive. A copy of this video will be shipped to each Field Support Manager prior to July 1, 1987. It is also available from Ed. Services.
