PROBLEM: The Circuit Breaker CB1 trips for no valid reason. 

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: Rework any Transport exhibiting problem/symptoms. 

QUICK CHECK: N/A 
This FCO supersedes the original release of 28 March 1985 and provides
the following changes: The changing of the AC transformer Tap
specifications has been included. This increases the Power Pack Margins.
The FCO now applies to any TU78, now a TA78.

IN-PLANT EFFECTIVITY: 

PROBLEM: Rework all TU78's without a second fuse block in the Power 
Pack. Complete installation procedure is included in the EQ Kit.
This is recommended for Depot Installation only.

QUICK CHECK: Second Fuse Holder mounted in Power Pack contains
F9 thru F14.

The DEC on-site labor charge will be the time required to install
and test the FCO at the cirrent hourly rate.

PROBLEM: Rework all TU78's experiencing LOAD problems when using
"EASYLOAD II" type cartridges.


QUICK CHECK: Presence of an external seal placed around the lower
Cartridge Restraint Air Inlet Hole.

The DEC on-site labor charge will be the time required to install
and test the FCO at the then current hourly rate.

PROBLEM: Excessive soft errors while writing tapes in GCR,
and the inability to read tapes written on another tape
drive.     

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: All TU78s not at Rev "H" which do not have
this FCO installed and experiencing problems with GCR Write,
tape interchangeability, and other errors.  This FCO implements
the following ECOs: M8950-SH009, M8950-SH010, TU78-SH034, TU78-SH036,
TU78-SH037.     

QUICK CHECK: Label on the inside of the front door, and the
Preamp module has a shield.     
      
     This revised FCO supersedes Rev. B released 30 July 1987.
     It has been revised to correct errors in the text on pages
     3, 4, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17.
