PROBLEM: The top cover will not remain open and may slam shut unless 
opened beyond the 90 degree point. 

IN-PLANT EFFECTIVITY: DEC 84 

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: Rework all TU81's that currently have gas springs 
involved. 

QUICK CHECK: Open the top cover of the TU81 and not the presence of 
the counter balance assembly instead of gas springs. 

The DEC on-site labor charge will be the time required to install and test
the FCO at the then current hourly rate.

PROBLEM: Error code 72 is displayed when running the Operator Test 
"01" with a non Write Protected Tape. 

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: Rework all TU81 Transports to Vendor Serial Number 
6648. 

QUICK CHECK: Perform the Operator Test "01" with a tape and without a 
Write Ring installed. 

The DEC on-site labor charge will be the time required to install and test
the FCO at the then current hourly rate.

the GCR mode.

6648.

QUICK CHECK: Presence of ROM (P/N 77-02845-00) in location D-3 on the 
Read Formatter Module.

fault light during normal operation. 

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: Rework all TU81/TA81 Transports when
problem symptoms are evident. Option TU81 Rev C1, TU81E Rev B1
and TA81 Rev B1 and below. Formatter Write Modules
P/N 77025981 and below. This FCO implements ECO TU81-SH009. 

QUICK CHECK: Clamp between formatter Write and Read Modules.

11785 and 8600/8650 systems when problem/symptoms are
evident.  TU81 Rev. C1 and below. TMSCP Modules at
Part Number 77041258 and below.  NOTE: (NOT APPLICABLE
FOR TU81E).     

QUICK CHECK: ROM in location G3 on TMSCP Module is P/N
