Open the top cover and defeat the interlock switch with the Interlock Defeat tool (P/N 29-24703). 2. Switch the power supply Circuit Breaker (Red) to the OFF (0) position and then on again to the ON (1) position. This will examine the Drive Internal Interface Circuitry. 3. Run the Operator Test "01" one full pass. *************************************************************************** * 4. To remove power from the drive, perform the following sequence: * * * * - Switch the power supply Circuit Breaker off. * * - Open the rear door and turn the 874 power controller * * circuit breaker to the "OFF" position. * *************************************************************************** 5. Open the front door of the drive. Release the tape deck pawl fastener. Release the tape deck latch and rotate the tape deck into the service position. 6. Perform steps 1 and 2 (Formatter Write Removal) on Page 116 of the Pocket Service Guide. 7. Loosen the two thumbscrews on the Formatter Read module and separate the Formatter Read module from the Formatter Write Module. 8. Remove nut "B" Figure 1. (Retain for later use) from the Formatter Write module. Disconnect the black connector from the Formatter Write module (Save screw "A"). 9. Install the new connector supplied with this kit using the same nut and screw removed in step 8. Change the module part number to 77025982. 11. Secure the Formatter Write module to the Formatter Read module using the thumbscrews (Figure 4-28 Pocket Service Guide) as shown. Tighten the two screws at the top and bottom on the new clamp attached to the connector. 12. Secure the Interface Module to the Formatter Modules using the thumbscrews (Figure 4-28 Pocket Service Guide) as shown. 13. Slide the card cage back into position and lock with cage lockscrews. 14. Return the drive tape deck to the operating postion. 15. Return power to the drive by reversing the sequence in Step 4. 16. To verify the drive is functioning properly, perform one pass of Operator Test 01. 17. Change the serial number tag to: TU81: Revision "C2" TU81E: Revision "B2" TA81: Revision "B2" 18. Fill out the Site Management guide to reflect this FCO. 19.
