THE USE OF THE * * VELOSTAT KIT IS ESSENTIAL TO PREVENT DAMAGE WHICH MAY NOT BE NOTICED * * IMMEDIATELY. * ************************************************************************* 1. Bring down the operating system by executing the normal Shutdown procedure. 2. Set the front panel Five-position keyswitch to the "OFF" position. If the H7750 Battery Backup option has been installed prior to beginning this FCO, set the toggle switch located on the front of the Battery Backup unit to the "OFF" position. Switch the Main Circuit Breaker on the Power Controller to the "OFF" position. ******************************************************************** * ** WARNING ** * * If the H7750 Battery Backup unit is not switched to the "OFF" * * position and the Main Circuit Breaker on the Power Controller is * * switched "OFF", then Battery Backup, if installed as an option, * * will become activated. * ******************************************************************** 3. Verify that the stabilizer arm is extended and properly adjusted before extending the CPU box fully forward. Failure to comply could result in the entire CPU cabinet tipping forward and falling to the floor. 4. Set up the VELOSTAT Kit: - Unfold the VELOSTAT mat to full size (24x24). - Attach the 15'ground cord to the VELOSTAT snap fastener on the mat. - Attach the alligator clip end of the ground cord to a good ground on the 11730. - Attach the wrist strap to either wrist and the alligator clip to a convenient portion of the mat. 5. Extend the CPU box and remove the M8394 module from slot 5 and place it on the mat. 6. Inspect the removed module. If it is at part revision "L1" or higher (E54 is 23-154F2-00), reinstall it and proceed to step 12. 7. If it is below revision "L1", proceed to the next step. 8. Place the box EQ-01466-01 with the new PROMS on the VELOSTAT Mat. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO 11730-I002 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 5 OF 7 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 9. Remove the PROMS from the box and lay them on the VELOSTAT mat. This will bring the PROMS to the same potential as the CPU and eliminate static discharge damage. 10. Unplug the PROM at location E54 (P/N 23-095F2-00). Install the new PROM P/N 23-154F2-00 in the same location. 11. Unplug the PROM at location E53 (P/N 23-096F2-00). Install the new PROM P/N 23-155F2-00 in the same location. 12. Install the proper Brady Marker "L1 through L5". 13. Reinstall the M8394 module in slot 5. 14. Reset the circuit breaker on the power controller and turn the toggle switch on the battery backup unit to the "ON" position if needed (see step 2). 15. Set the front panel Auto Restart/Boot switch to "OFF" and then turn the five position key switch to LOCAL. 16. Load and run the micro diagnostics. 17. Load the diagnostic supervisor and run macro diagnostics, EVKAB, EVKAC, EVKAD, EVKAE. 18. Reset the Auto Reboot switch to "ON" and reinstate the operating system. 19. After sliding the CPU box into the cabinet, retract the stabilizer arm to its stored position. 20. Fill out the LARS form to reflect that FCO 11730-I002 has been installed (see attached LARS example.) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO 11730-I002 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 6 OF 7 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ FIGURE I _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO 11730-I002 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 7 OF 7 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ LARS USA & GIA EUR Activity Contract and Warranty W or Y or Non Contract/Non Warranty F F DEC Option 11730 11730 Type of Call M M Action Taken D I Fail Area-Module-FCO-Comments FCO 11730-I002 FCO 11730-I002 Material Used EQ-01466-01 EQ-01466-01 \^ 11730 \\11730 \\VERMETTE \\1987 \\JUN \\FCO_DOCS
