Verify the rev of the microcode in the system: $^P (control P) >>>SHO VER VER: PCS=01 WCS=0F-10 FPLA=0F CON=V07-00-L KE780 PRESENT >>>SET TER PRO $ NOTE: WCS=0F (WCS125 or WCS126) WCS=0E (WCS124) 2. Log into the system. 3. Check the directory files to verify the Microcode Pattern (WCS125.PAT or WCS126.PAT) by doing the following: For VMS 4.X For VMS 3.X ----------- ----------- $EXCHANGE $MOUNT/FOREIGN CSA1: $EXCHANGE> DIR CSA1: $MC FLX FLX>CS1:/RT/LI 4. If the WCS.PAT is WCS125 or below, go to the next step. If the WCS is 126, there is no need to proceed further with this FCO. 5. Copy any custom made files from the console floppy to your area. 6. If the system is running VMS 4.0 or greater run EXCHANGE and use the following commands. If the system is running VMS 3.X, go to step 9. EXCHANGE>COPY CSA1:DEFBOO.CMD * EXCHANGE>COPY CSA1: * (where filename is any other file on the console which you want on the new floppy) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO 11780-8-I008 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 4 OF 9 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 7. Remove the old console floppy and install the new one supplied, P/N AS-T213*-ME. Copy DEFBOO.CMD and any other files to the new floppy, P/N AS-T213*-ME. EXCHANGE>COPY DEFBOO.CMD CSA1:DEFBOO.CMD EXCHANGE>COPY CSA1: EXCHANGE>EXIT 8. Proceed to step 12. 9. If the system is running VMS 3.X, MOUNT the floppy, run FLX and use the following commands. $MOUNT/FOREIGN CSA1: $MC FLX FLX>/RS=CS1:DEFBOO.CMD/RT FLX>/RS=CS1:/RT (where filename is any other file on the console which you want on the new floppy) 10. Remove the old console floppy and install the new one supplied, P/N AS-T213*-ME. 11. Copy DEFBOO.CMD and any other files to the new floppy, P/N AS-T213*-ME. FLX>CS1:DEFBOO.CMD/RT=DEFBOO.CMD/RS FLX>CS1:/RT=/RS FLX>CTRL $ 12. Run Shutdown by using the normal software procedures: $@SYS$SYSTEM:SHUTDOWN 13. If the system was previously upgraded with the new FPLAs and WCS125 (Rev 8) go to step 22. If the system was below Rev 8 (WCS124 or lower) go to the next step 14. 14. Set five-position keyswitch on controller panel to off and set circuit breaker CB1 on power controller to off. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO 11780-8-I008 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 5 OF 9 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 15. Set all memory power supply switches to off position. ********************************************************* * WARNING * * * * If memory power supply switch is on and circuit * * breaker on power controller is set to off, battery * * backup unit (if installed as an option) will be * * turned on. To turn off battery backup unit, * * memory power supply must be turned off. * ********************************************************* 16. Set up the VELOSTAT Kit: - Unfold the VELOSTAT mat to full size (24x24). - Attach the 15' ground cord to the VELOSTAT snap fastener on the mat. - Attach the alligator clip end of the ground cord to a good ground on the 11780. - Attach the wrist strap to either wrist and the alligator clip to a convenient portion of the mat. 17. Remove the M8235 module from slot 23 and place it on the mat. Remove FPLA at location E123 and install FPLA P/N 23-115C6-00 provided in the kit (see figures 1 & 2.) 18. Install the proper brady markers on the module handle. (Old C.S. Rev "H3" goes to new part rev "N1" - Old C.S. rev "M" goes to new part rev "N2"). 19. This FCO changes the revision of the System to "8" or "8B", as outlined below. If jumpers are not available wirewrap the appropriate pins. 22. Reload the new WCS.PAT WCS126 by powering DOWN and UP the LSI-11 (DC "ON"/"OFF") switch on the LSI console. Ensure that the auto reboot switch is in the "OFF" position. Go to step 23. 23. Power up the system by resetting the power controller circuit breaker to the "ON" position, resetting the memory power supply circuit breaker to the "ON" position and setting the five position key switch on the control panel to "LOCAL". 24. Run macro diagnostics EVKAB through EVKAE to verify the functionality of the new FPLA and microcode. 25. Update Site Management Guide to reflect this FCO. 26. Report FCO activity on LARS form in the "Module/fail area/FCO".
