63XX VAX Systems

PROBLEM: An incompatibility situation can occur with TK50 tapes.  The
problem is caused by the TBK50 controller (T1034) using a different
soft error (i.e., bad spot recovery) routine than used by TQK50,
TUK50, TZK50, TQK70 and TBK70 (T1035) controllers.

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: This FCO should be installed on 6000-2XX (62XX)
systems that use the TK50 for making tapes that will be read on
another system type (i.e., MicroVAX, VX2000, 11/785, etc.).  This FCO
changes the revision of the T1034 module to K3, K4 or K5.  It does not
change the rev. of the 6000-2XX systems.

QUICK CHECK: The revision of the T1034 should be K3, K4 or K5.

PROBLEM: VAX 6000 series system design does not permit unqualified 
personnel to access the interior of system cabinet.  Embedded
storage controls and indicators cannot be accessed without opening
the cabinet front door.

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: This "S" coded FCO is being implemented on early
shipments of the VAX 6000 series systems containing embedded
storage.  It does not change the revision of the system.

QUICK CHECK: Front door should have opening for embedded storage.

PROBLEM: 1.) Secondary processor intermittently fails RBD
test 7 and/or ELKMP; 2.) Duplicate Tag Parity Errors occur
during periods of heavy XMI activity; 3.)Cache Tag Parity
errors and/or related bugchecks in which the exception PC
equals MMG$PAGEFAULT+10E,MMG$PAGEFAULT+91.

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: Upgrade all T2011-YA/-YC spares and any CPU
modules in systems which exhibit the problems described in
Problem section.  This FCO incorporates ECO's T2011-YA-MK001,
T2011-YA-MK002, T2011-YA-TW003 and T2011-YA-TW004. This revision,
dated 18 March 1991 supersedes two prior revisions.

QUICK CHECK: Check ROM at loc. E16 (Console Rom).  Should be
23-188E9-00 for the -YA and 23-192E9-00 for the -YC.

PROBLEM: Installation of the DWMVA option requires
6000-3XX CPU modules to be upgaded to a new minimum part
revision of "AF".

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: Upgrade any 6000-3XX system CPU modules
(T2011-YA) to a minimum revision "AF" ONLY WHEN ADDING A
DWMVA option to an existing system. Also, ensure a spare
module rev. "AF" is available to support this at the SDU.
This FCO incorporates ECO #T2011YA-TW05.

SOLUTION: Upgrade applicable 6000-3XX system CPU modules upon
installation of the DWMVA add-on option. Use minimum part
revision "AF".

QUICK CHECK: Componenet at location E16 should be marked 
23-305E9-00. Component at location E8 should be p/n 
23-304E9-00.

The DEC on-site labor charge will be the time required
to install and test the FCO at the then current hourly
rate.
