It also describes how to replace the rev. C01 door catches. CCL Affected ---------------- All VAX 7XXX systems which have a CCL module, P/N 54-20300-01, at rev. J03 or below. -------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE The CCL (Cabinet Control Logic) module is located on the top of the system in the right hand corner. To remove the module you must open the cabinet back door. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Removing the CCL module from the System. ======================================== 1. Have the customer notify all affected systems users and shut down the operating system. 2. Disable the 48 VDC Buss by turning the front panel keyswitch to the "OFF" position. Turn off input AC power to the platform by switching the main circuit breaker at the back of the machine to "off" (Fig 1). This shuts off power to the CCL module. **************************************************************** * C A U T I O N * * * * This module, as all other modules, contains * * electrostatic discharge sensitive devices (ESDS). * * The use of the VELOSTAT kit is essential to prevent * * damage which may not be noticed immediately. * **************************************************************** 3. Set up VELOSTAT KIT a. Unfold the VELOSTAT mat to full size (24" x 24"). b. Attach the 15 foot ground cord to the VELOSTAT snap fastener on the mat. c. Attach the alligator clip end of the ground cord to a good ground on the cabinet. d. Attach the wrist strap to either wrist and the alligator clip to a convenient portion of the mat. +---------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | FCO (VAX) 7XXX-F002 | d | i | g | i | t | a | l | | | | | | | | | | | PAGE 3 OF 15 +---------------------------+ | _________________________________|____________________________________ 4. Open rear cabinet door. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the three backplate mounting screws as shown in Fig. 3, and set these screws aside. Loosen the captive CCL hold down screws (See Fig. 4). Disconnect all cables and remove the CCL module. Place the module on the velostat mat. 5. Locate the air pressure switch S1, on the CCL module. Using a flat bladed screwdriver, disconnect the faston tabs from the switch as shown in Figure 5. 6. Connect the wires removed from the switch in Step 5 to the "Y" connector (DEC P/N 90-09797-00) as shown in Figure 6. 7. Connect the "Y" TAB to the CCL module pressure switch. Reference designator S1, as shown in Figure 7. 8. Four brady markers are supplied in the EQ kit; H, K, 3 and 4. Place the appropriate brady marker over the bar code label revision sticker. The revisions are changed as follows: PART Current revision Revision after FCO 54-20300-01 H3 H4 54-20300-01 J3 K3 9. Re-install the CCL Module in the cabinet with the two captive hold down screws, connect all cables and install the metal backplate. Replacing the door catches ========================== For systems that have shipped with rev. C01 roller catches, 74-42872-01, the following is the recommended rework: 10. Remove all 4 rev. C01 catches - 2 located on front right-hand frame upright and 2 located on rear right-hand frame upright. Be sure to save the hex nuts. 11. Attach 2 rev. D01 catches to the FRONT right-hand frame upright and secure using 2 hex nuts per catch. As there is some play in the mounting holes in the catch, ensure that the catch is PUSHED IN towards the system while securing. Doing this should improve the alignment between front door and top cover. 12. Attach 2 rev. D01 catches to the REAR right-hand frame upright and secure using 2 hex nuts per catch. Again, as there is some play in the mounting holes in the catch, ensure that the catch is PULLED OUT towards the system while securing. Doing this should improve the alignment between rear door and top cover. 13. On the inside edge of the FRONT door, remove the foam tape section, which is located between the top roller and the bottom roller. +---------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | FCO (VAX) 7XXX-F002 | d | i | g | i | t | a | l | | | | | | | | | | | PAGE 4 OF 15 +---------------------------+ | _________________________________|____________________________________ 14. On the inside edge of the REAR door, remove the foam tape section which is located between the top roller and the bottom roller. 15. Based on these changes, you will have to adjust the location of the rollers on the front and rear doors in order to ensure that the latch mechanism will engage correctly. 16. Turn the cabinet breaker on and enable power to the system with the keyswitch. Check for proper CCL operation. 17. Insure the system powers up and passes its power-up self tests. If the system fails to pass power-up self tests, refer to the appropriate diagnostics and troubleshooting procedures as the power-up self test failures would indicate. 18. Report this FCO activity on the LARS form in the "Fail Area/ Module/FCO/Comments"column as follows: FCO 7XXX-F002 (See Appendix A). *************************************************************** NOTE: ALL PICTURES CAN BE PRESENTED IN HARDCOPY ONLY *************************************************************** +---------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | FCO (VAX) 7XXX-F002 | d | i | g | i | t | a | l | | | | | | | | | | | PAGE 5 OF 15 +---------------------------+ | _________________________________|______________________________________ LARS CATEGORY F USA GIA EUROPE Activity - (a)Contract W U K Warranty W U W (b)IN-DEC Contract K U A Non Contract/Non Warranty F F F (c)RTD/Off-site Agreement F U F Hardware Segment Code 111 111 *** Product Line 031 DEC Option 7XXX 7XXX 7XXX Option ID X N/A N/A Type of Call M M M Action Taken D D I Fail Area-Module-FCO-Comments 7XXX-F002 7XXX-F002 7XXX-F002 Material Used EQ-01666-01 EQ-01666-01 EQ-01666-01 (a) Warranty Optimum, Warranty Standard and Warranty Basic (on-site) Agreements; * Note material (only) free of charge for all customers.
