Refer to Chapter 7 of the DEC 3000 AXP Model 500/500S Service Information Manual (EK-FLAMI-SV). Chapter 7 will instruct you on how to remove and replace the parts needed for this FCO. 2. Have the customer shutdown the system software. 3. Power off the system and disconnect power cord from wall socket. 4. Remove top cover and both side panels. 5. Remove front panel. 6. Lift the system up on it's back end and open access door at front of system, and underneath power supply. 7. Unplug AC power cord and fan harness behind access door. 8. Remove the five (5) power cables connected to the power supply on the right side of the system (if looking from the front). 9. Loosen two (2) screws using T15 Torx srew driver on the top front of the power supply. 10. Loosen two (2) screws using the Phillips screw driver on the bottom front of the power supply. 11. CAUTION: Use care when handling the FCC screen. The screen may have sharp edges, and may be easily damaged. With the power supply in the upright position, remove the 4 Phillips screws that hold the FCC screen in place and remove the screen. The FCC screen is the metal screen with the holes in it on top of the power supply. 13. Look inside and in the front you will see the old harness. Remove the old harness and replace it with the new harness, and reinstall the FCC screen. 14. Install the new revision label (J01 for the H7883-AA or C01 for the H7883-YA) on the front of the power supply. 15. Reverse the preceding steps to reinstall the power supply and to restore the system to its original state. 16. After you have put the system back together, power-up the system, and if the power-up self-test passes the FCO is complete. 17. Report this FCO activity on the LARS form in the "Fail Area/ Module/FCO/Comments" column as follows: FCO KN15-AA-O003.
