_ DOL, RA80X-S001, HDA GROUND BRUSH ASSY AUG 86

PROBLEM: The HDA Ground Brush Assembly experiences excessive wear.
The resulting noise may cause intermittent R/W/Seek errors.

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: Retrofit all RA80 drives where the problem
symtom is evident and the lable on the HDA(in the drive) is marked
"Revision F". 

QUICK CHECK: The HDA lable on the left side of the HDA is marked
"Revision H1" or higher. 

This revised FCO supersedes the original release dated 16 Aug 1984. The
FA number has been changed from FA-04564-01 to FA-04561-01.

PROBLEM: The Drive is intermittently spun down during the port 
switching to an HSC50.

CORRECTION: Microcode change to base level 3.0.

IN-PLANT EFFECTIVITY: OCT 84

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: This FCO is to solve a dual-port compatibility 
problem with the HSC50.  This FCO is only required for RA60's that are 
being put onto an HSC controller. The Drives affected are S/N CX13628 
and below for 60hz. The 50hz has not been phased into date yet. The 
Kaufbeuren phase-in date was 19 November 1984, SN #3322.

QUICK CHECK: Presence of microprocessor module 54-15284 at Revision 
"D1".

The DEC on-site labor charge will be the time required to install and test
the FCO at the then current hourly rate.

PROBLEM: HDA chassis and drive chassis are at different
ground references. Data errors (ECC) are not related to media
defects. This FCO will eliminate the difference in potential
between the HDA and the chassis ground. 

FIELD EFFECTIVITY: Rework all RA80 Disk Drives. This FCO
implements ECO #70-18330-CX014. This FCO must be implemented
on all RA80 Disk Drives which do not have a ground strap
installed between the HDA and the power supply chassis ground
stud. 

QUICK CHECK: Ground strap attached between the HDA and power
supply chassis ground stud.
