TABLE-TOP DRIVES: Perform steps 10 through 17. ****************************************************************************** * * * 1. Perform an orderly System shut-down. * * * * 2. Turn the AC circuit breaker "off" and remove the AC power cord * * from the rear of the drive. * ****************************************************************************** 3. To extend the rack-mount chassis, perform the following: 3a. On cabinet configurations that have a stabilizer foot at the center bottom of the cabinet, extend the foot out to the front of the cabinet until it reaches its limit (See Figure 1). 3b. At the rear of the cabinet, open the door or remove the protective panel. Remove the round LESI cable from the connector at the rear of the drive chassis, (See Figure 2) by loosening the two captive screws on the cable connector, and pulling the connector straight out. 3c. At the rear of the drive chassis, remove the rear plate by loosening the three 1/4 turn screws (See Figure 2) and pull the plate up and out of the chassis. 3d. At the rear of the drive chassis, remove both of the shipping brackets on each of the chassis slides (See Figure 3), by removing the single screw securing the bracket to each slide assembly. 3e. From the rear, push the drive chassis out on its slides until it reaches its maximum extension (See Figure 4). 4. To remove the Rackmount Cover/Bezel Assembly, perform the following: 4a. Loosen, but do not remove the two screws, one on each side of the Cover/Bezel Assembly (See Figure 5). 4b. Slide the Cover/Bezel Assembly slightly forward and up off the retaining screws. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO RC25-R-003 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 3 OF 13 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 5. To remove the Operator Panel, perform the following: 5a. Loosen but do not remove the four bezel retaining screws (See Figure 6). 5b. Pull the bezel forward and off the retaining screws. Do not hang the bezel by the cables; the small flex-strip cable is fragile and very easily damaged. 5c. To reach the retaining screws on a dual drive rackmount chassis, you must release the drive being worked on from the chassis. * Loosen, but do not remove the two screws at the bottom front drive assembly. This releases the front of the drive. * On the bottom center, turn the screw counterclockwise to release the drive assembly. * Lift the rear of the drive assembly slightly upward and slide the assembly forward on the chassis to reach the bezel retaining screws. 5d. Unplug the three cables at the operator panel connectors J1, J2, and J3. Unplug the flex-strip cable (J3) first. 6. To replace the Operator Panel, perform the following: 6a. Install the new Operator Panel by connecting the three cables to J1, J2, and J3. Connect the flex-strip cable (J3) last. 6b. Slide the Bezel onto the four retaining screws, tighten the screws to secure the Bezel to the Baseplate/Chassis Assembly. 6c. On dual drive rackmount configurations, slide the drive being worked on back into the chassis assembly and tighten the screws to secure it. 7. To replace the Cover/Bezel Assembly, perform the following: 7a. Position the Cover/Bezel Assembly over the chassis and lower it over the retaining screws (See Figure 5). 7b. Slide the cover to the rear and engage the two front pins. Complete by tightening the two retaining screws. 8. To retract the chassis, perform the following: 8a. From the front of the cabinet press the slide's release levers and slide the chassis back into the cabinet. Make sure no cables are pinched in the rear. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO RC25-R-003 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 4 OF 13 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 8b. Reinstall the two shipping brackets to the slides, ensuring that the chassis is secured in the cabinet. 8c. Reinstall the rear plate to the chassis. Make sure that no cables get caught between the plate and the Cover Assembly. 8d. Reconnect the round KLESI cable to the rear plate. 8e. Push the stabilizer foot back into the cabinet. 9. Attach the AC line cord to the drive(s) and turn on the AC circuit breaker. 9a. Run the internal verification diagnostics (both the master and slave should be tested separately). 9b. Perform Test 1: Power-on Check - Without disk cartridges installed, apply power to the System, check for no error conditions. 9c. Perform Test 2: Disk and Head Load - Install a disk cartridge into the drive, press the Run button and lock it. At the completion of the spin-up cycle, the Run indicator turns "on" and the Fault indicator should remain "off". 9d. Perform Test 3: Quick Verification on the drive under test -1. With the disks spinning, heads loaded and the Run Indicator on press, lock in both the Write Protect buttons. 2. Press the Fault button in and hold it in for at least 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, the Fault Indicator will slowly flash (1 Hz). It can then be released. 9e. Installation is now complete. TABLE-TOP DRIVES: Perform steps 10 through 17. ***************************************************************************** * 10. Perform an orderly System shut-down. * * * * 11. Turn the drive AC circuit breaker "off" and remove the AC power * * cord from the rear of the drive. * ***************************************************************************** 12a. At the rear of the drive release the four captive phillips head screws that secure the Cover to the rear Bezel (See Figure 7). 12b. Grasp the Bezel/Cover and slide it forward. This step disengages the two front locating pins. Now lift the Cover straight up and off the drive (See Figure 8). _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO RC25-R-003 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 5 OF 13 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 13.
