TEST AND POWER DOWN DRIVE AS FOLLOWS. A. Request that the Customer release the drive from operation. ************************************************************ * NOTE * * * * A COMPLETE BACKUP SHOULD BE PERFORMED PRIOR TO * * CONTINUING THIS REWORK PROCEDURE. * * * ************************************************************ B. Raise the Top Access Cover and place the F.E. Mode switch to "LOCAL". (figure 2) Switch the Online/Offline switch to "ONLINE" and verify machine performance by running Micro Diagnostics (figure 1). C. Place the Start/Stop switch in the "STOP" position. (figure 1) D. Wait for the HDA to stop spinning. E. Open the front door of the drive and remove the Electronics Library Cover. Set the Massbus Enable/Disable switch on A1A12 to the "DISABLE" (down) position . (figure 3) F. Set the service switch A1A3 to the "OFF" (down) position. (figure 3) G. Set circuit breakers 3,2,1 (in this order) to the "OFF" position. (figure 4) SECTION 2. REWORK STEPS FOR A1A16 READ/WRITE SAFETY MODULE. A. Attach ESD Wrist Strap to drive chassis. ************************************************************ * NOTE * * * * THE USE OF ESD PROTECTION IS A MUST IN THIS REWORK * * PROCEDURE. THE VELOSTAT KIT P/N 29-11762 CONTAINS AN * * ANTI-STATIC MAT WHICH IS RECOMMENDED FOR USE DURING THE * * MODULE REWORK PROCESS. WHEN HANDLING MODULES, IT IS * * STANDARD PRACTICE TO BE GROUNDED TO THE DEVICE VIA ESD * * WRIST STRAP. COMPONENT DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF PROPER * * GROUNDING IS NOT OBSERVED. * ************************************************************ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO RPO7-I041 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 3 OF 9 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ B. Remove the A1A16 read/write module (figure 3) from the card cage. Place the module on an anti-static work surface. ************************************************************ * N O T E * * * * THERE ARE TWO (2) VARIATIONS OF THE A1A16 MODULE. THE * * VARIATIONS OF THE MODULE WILL BE PCA NUMBER B9706402-104 * * (SEE FIGURE 5, COMPONENTS R8 AND R9) AND PCA NUMBER * * B9706632-01 (SEE FIGURE 6, COMPONENTS R36 AND R37). THE * * COMPONENTS ON BOTH MODULES WILL BE PHYSICALLY LOCATED IN * * THE SAME LOCATIONS, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BEING THE * * SCHEMATIC NUMBERING OF THE COMPONENTS AS SHOWN ON FIGURES* * 5 AND 6. * * * ************************************************************ C. Locate and remove 402 Ohm resistors R8 and R9 (figure 5) or R36 and R37 (figure 6). (See above note) D. Replace R8 and R9, or R36 and R37 with the two 348 Ohm 1/4 Watt resistors supplied in the EQ kit. E. Replace the A1A16 read/write safety module in the card cage. SECTION 3. POWER UP AND TEST. A. Insure the start/stop switch is in the "STOP" position. (figure 1) B. Set the FE mode switch to "NORMAL". (figure 2) C. Set circuit breaker "1" and circuit breaker "2" to the "ON" position. (figure 4) The blower will begin to purge. D. Set circuit breaker "3" to the "ON" position. (figure 4) E. Set service switch to the "ON" (up) position. (figure 3) F. Set the start/stop switch to the "START" position. G. Wait until 06 hex code of the program code is displayed on the F.E. Control Panel. (figure 2) H. Set the F.E. switch to "LOCAL" (figure 2) and verify that all internal diagnostics have run to completion. I. Set F.E. switch to "NORMAL". _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO RPO7-I041 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 4 OF 9 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ J.
