It requires gaining access to the inside of the * * host system and may pose a threat to personal safety. * * Failure to adhere to this warning may result in voiding the * * warranty on the RRD-50 subsystem as well as the host system. * * * ***************************************************************** ***************************************************************** * CAUTION * * * * The M7552 is a STATIC SENSITIVE device. It must only be * * handled after proper electrostatic precautions have been * * taken. DO NOT remove module from static-proof bag until * * installer has been properly grounded, Velostat mat has been * * laid out and all non-conductive material has been removed * * from the work area. (Velostat kit PN - 29-11762) * * * ***************************************************************** Instructions: 1. Ask system manager to shut down the system. 2. Turn off power and remove the power cord from its outlet. For the following, reference manual EK-M7552-IN-001 (RRD50 Q-Bus Controller Installation Guide). Micro VAX II (BA23): 3. Remove rear cover to access the patch panel. 4. Disconnect the patch panel captive screws and swing it open. 5. Locate the internal I/O cable going from the M7552 to the patch panel and remove. 6. Remove the M7552 and lay it on the Velostat mat. World Box (BA123): 7. Swing the rear cover out to expose the patch panel. 8. Remove the right hand side to expose the inside of the World Box. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO RRD50-R001 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 3 OF 5 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ 9. Expose the card cage by unsnapping and swinging open the card cage cover. 10. Locate the internal I/O cable between the M7552 and the patch panel and remove. 11. Remove the M7552 and lay it on the Velostat mat. Either Box: 12. Remove the new M7552 from the box and the protective bag and place it on the Velostat mat next to the old one. 13. Set the switches in switch pack S1 of the new board the same as the old board. ********************************************************* * WARNING * * * * Never use a pencil to set the switches. The * * graphite can damage the board. * * * ********************************************************* 14. Make sure that jumper J7 on the new board is the same as the old board. Reference Installation Manual page 6. 16. Insert the new module into the slot vacated by the old module. 17. Reconnect the internal I/O cable. Module Checkout: 19. Plug the power cord back into the outlet and turn on the system power. 20. Observe the diagnostic LEDS on the M7552 just below the connector J9. Within 10 seconds, both LEDS should be off after having been on. If not, there is a problem. Recheck the installation procedure above. Don't overlook seating of the module in the backplane. Be sure to check the internal I/O connector and the BC18R from the patch panel to the drive. 21. If the LEDS still indicate a problem, normal troubleshooting procedures should be followed. 22. Close up the respective boxes by reversing the procedures for the Micro VAX II or the World Box as stated in steps 3-11. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO RRD50-R001 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 4 OF 5 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ Subsystem Checkout: 23. The RRD-50 must now be checked out at a subsystem level. Refer to the User's Guide (EK-RRD50-UG) chapter 5, and/or the Pocket Service Guide (EK-RRD50-PS) chapter 4. 24. Run tests 1-18 in service mode. If there is an error, normal troubleshooting procedures should be followed. 25. Return the system to the system manager. Have him bring up his operating system and assure that he is satisfied with the subsystem operation. Old Module Return: 26. The old module is on the Authorized Returns List (ARL). Place it in the static bag which came with the kit module. 27. Fill out the module tag and mark it "OUT OF REV". 28. Place both in the module box. 29. Return the module to your logistics coordinator. 30. Follow example to report LARS data. 31. Update Site Management guide to reflect this FCO. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | FCO RRD50-R001 | | | | | | | | | |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| | PAGE 5 OF 5 |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _______________________________|_________________________________________ LARS USA & GIA EUROPE Activity Contract and Warranty W Y Non Contract/Non Warranty F F DEC Option RRD50-QX RRD50-QX Type of Call M M Action Taken D I Fail Area-Module-FCO-Comments RRD50-R001 RRD50-R001 Material Used EQ-01462-01 EQ-01462-01 \^ RRD50 \\RRD50 \\BENOIT \\1987 \\MAY \\FCO_DOCS
