Open the top cover and defeat the interlock switch with the Interlock Defeat tool (P/N 29-24703). 2. Switch the power supply Circuit Breaker (Red) to the OFF (0) position and then on again to the ON (1) position. This will examine the Drive Internal Interface Circuitry. 3. Run the Operator Test "01" one full pass. 4. To remove power from the TA81, perform the following in sequence: - Switch the power supply Circuit Breaker OFF (0). - Open the rear door and turn the 874 power controller circuit breaker to the OFF (0) position. 5. Open the front door of the TA81. Release the tape deck pawl fastener. Release the tape deck latch and rotate the tape deck into the service position. 6. Perform steps 1 through 3 (Interface Module Removal) on Page 128 of the Maintenance Guide. 7. Remove the ROM at location G2 and replace it with ROM P/N 77028485 (See Figure 1). 8. Remove the ROM at location G4 and replace it with ROM P/N 77028494 (See Figure 1). 9. Change the Module part number to (Vendor) 77042146. 11. Set on switches 2 and 1 on the Revision Dip Switch behind the formatter boards. 12. Reverse the steps 3 through 1 of the Interface Module Removal Procedure (See page 128 of the Maintenance Guide). 11. Return the TA81 tape deck to the operating position. 12. Return power to the TA81 by reversing the sequence in step 4. 13. To verify the TA81 is functioning properly. Perform the Operator Test 01.
